Poonana Cream Pie

Posted on July 20 2016

Poonana cream pie

The name may be gross, but the resulting pie is delish! And tremendously fast and simple for anyone who knows how to use an egg beater (I didn't until a few months ago, but that's another story.) This poo emoji-topped beauty is a no-bake banana cream cheese pie with graham cracker crust and salted caramel sprinkles. Here's how it's made...

Time to create:

  • 15 minutes to make the filling
  • 15 minutes to apply the decoration
  • 15 minutes to chill in freezer before serving

Ingredients:

  • pre-made graham cracker crust
  • 2 very ripe bananas (finally! you can use those gross things on your counter)
  • 1 brick cream cheese
  • 1 half litre container of whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup of icing sugar
  • 1 table spoon of cream of tartar
  • yellow food colouring
  • vanilla extract
  • banana chips
  • chocolate and salted caramel "sprinkle balls" (I don't know what they are actually called - you'll see 'em in the bulk section)

Supplies:

  • egg beaters or emersion blender
  • mixing bowl
  • cling wrap
  • spatula
  • parchment paper
  • scissors
  • pencil
  • computer

Step 1 - Assemble your supplies

All dis stuff going in.

Step 2 - Whip the cream

Whip the cream

Add a few drops of yellow food colouring (since the bananas wont turn it yellow themselves) and a sprinkle of cream of tartar. Blend until floofy. You know how this works. Slowly add in the icing sugar throughout your blending.

Step 3 - Add the banana chunks

Add banana chunks

Make sure the bananas are good and ripe or this will not go how you want it to go.

Step 4 - Add the cream cheese chunks

 Add the cream cheese chunks

Add the cream cheese in tiny cubes a bit at a time.

Step 5 - Scoop filling into pie crust

 Scoop filling into crust.

Mine is a bit lumpy because I didn't puree the bananas before I added them, but still tastes good! Quit being so judgemental anonymous internet person.

Step 6 - Create banana chip and chocolate ball border

 Create decorative border

Boring part's done - now for the decorating! Fun fact - these little balls melt in seconds so work quickly. If you are especially anal, you can use frozen tweezers to extend your working time. Weirdo.

Step 7 - Trace Emoji Poo image on parchment paper

 Create emoji poo template

Head on over to your computer and on a piece of parchment as large as your pie, trace the shape of the emoji poo.

Step 8 - Line perimeter with chocolate balls

Line the shape with chocolate balls

Cut out the inside of the poo shape and place your guide nicely centred on your pie. Line the perimetre with chocolate balls.

Step 9 - Fill in shape with caramel balls

Fill in the shape with caramel balls

Fill in the rest of the shape with the salted caramel balls, leaving space for the whites of his little pooey eyes.

Step 10 - Chill and serve!

Chill and serve!

Dog gets nothing.

Pop it in the freezer for 15 min (or longer if you prefer an ice cream cake-type of consistency) and then serve! It is seriously nummy.

Dog gets nothing.
