Cherumple Pie - A fine "pie combo" specimen
Posted on August 22 2016
Happy Ins-pie-ration Monday!
Behold the Cheumple Pie! That's cherry-pumpkin-apple for the uninitiated. More details can be found here: http://guff.com/16-incredible-thanksgiving-desserts/cherumple
Combo pies have always fascinated me, and this is a particularly strong example - it's hard enough to work out perfect cook times for one set of filling and crust, but here they tackle three! And put it in a cake!
Most combo pies have a fairly uniform presentation - either stacked like this one, or divided within one pan. But there is no reason you couldn't take advantage of the variation in filling to depict interesting geometric patterns or more figurative designs... Stack that one in the back of my noggin' for future use!
Is there is another epic baker or pie out there you think I should spotlight (especially if it is you)? Lay it on me! Until next Monday...
